Windows of opportunity

By Annabelle Rutledge and Katy Ward, Bond University journalism students

A Bond University student is starting a new advertising company in Varsity Lakes, initiating a way for students and residents to make money.

Tunnelvision Advertising will pay interested locals to supply advertising space on their back windshield.

Bond student and entrepreneur Nick O’Sullivan said there was an opportunity for companies to gain promotion through students and others who want to make money with minimal effort.

“I tried to think of an innovative means of advertising that provided value to two parties at once”, he said.

“I wanted to come up with an idea surrounding an advertising platform that already existed and wasn’t being widely used.”

The advertising would be in the form of a sticker that is semi-transparent and covers the whole back windshield.

Uni students would be paid anywhere between $50 to $100 a week depending on the car and advertisement.

Local Varsity Lakes Business Owner Nick Pearce said that his café would definitely benefit from this type of advertising.

“It sounds like an effective and cheap way to increase brand awareness”, he said.

Tunnelvision Advertising plans to start its ignition in a month’s time.
