Vocal success

By Courtney Meers, Bond University journalism student

While many local businesses have suffered during the economic downturn, Vocal Adrenaline Performing Arts (VAPA) is going from strength to strength.

VAPA noticed minor consequences of the economy in 2010 through the loss of 10-20 percent of their existing students.

A year later, business is booming and VAPA appears to have found their niche within the performing arts market.

With a current increase in students of over two percent per week, VAPA has managed to more than double their client base over the past year.

VAPA’s founder and principal Danielle Lo Passo said while she felt the impact of the economic downturn initially, she believes clever business decisions have led to success.

“Registering the business name at the start of 2011 was the turning point, it gave us credibility and drew much more attention through advertisements,” Ms Lo Passo said.

“We have minimal overhead costs and are a unique studio - we can please the students as well as the parents by offering fun lessons that are also informative.”

Parent Batia Vun believes providing her children with valuable lifelong lessons is a priority.

“It is important that my girls do activities that are of interest to them outside of school so they are able to experience a different environment as well as become well rounded people,” Mrs Vun said.

“It’s very important that there be outlets like VAPA to let them release the stress of school by doing something fun and relaxing.”

VAPA offers piano, singing and acting lessons for all ages and can be contacted through their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/VocalAdrenalinePerformingArts.
