A Varsity Lakes resident is gearing up to run in the charity race “Jogs for Jugs” held this Sunday.

Jogs for Jugs is a 5.5 km run starting at 6.30am at Kurrawa beach, Broadbeach and participants will run from Broadbeach to Surfers Paradise and back.

Elizabeth Molloy plans to run and is encouraging as many Varsity Lakes residents to join in as possible.

October is national breast cancer awareness month and this fun run is hoping to raise money for the Breast Cancer Network of Australia and the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

‘I am very excited about participating in the race on Sunday and I hope to see a lot of familiar faces there,” she said.
“My grandmother died of breast cancer so it is a cause very close to my heart.”

Breast Cancer survivor Vicki Cummings, a spokesperson for the Breast Cancer Network Australia, will be making a speech before officially starting the race.

Another breast cancer victim Fiona Garrett is also participating in the race.

“I think we all know somebody who has been affected by breast cancer, so it’s great to see all the residents of the Gold Coast raising awareness,” Ms Garrett said.

Participants are encouraged to dress in pink on the day.
