Third Annual Varsity Soccer Cup Competition
By Jessica Ward and Dana Korowec
Ten local Varsity Lakes businesses are competing in the communities’ third annual soccer cup competition.
The competition began on Monday June 30 and will run through to the following Friday at Central Park.
This event is unique to Varsity Lakes because of the large inflatable soccer fields that are erected especially for the competition.
Employee of Glenzeil Builders Matthew Sanders came down to watch the event and support his team.
“It gets me out of work for an hour [laughs], nah it’s a good thing for the community.”
Sport and Recreation Manager at Delfin Dean Patterson organised the event.
“The event is great for networking local businesses and is part of a broad corporate sporting program within Varsity,” said Mr Patterson.
Each of the ten businesses competing adopted a country to represent in the competition.
The teams will compete for two weeks hoping to claim the Totally Football Association Cup.
