Varsity Residents Farewells Local Celebrities

The Mason Rack band farewelled their local fans at Hotel CBD last Saturday night before their fourth cross-Canada tour.
Hotel CBD Functions co-ordinator Cassandra Naughton said The Mason Rack band regularly attracted an enthusiastic audience.
“He [Frontman Mason Rack] does a drum duel where the lead singer goes into the audience while playing anything including beer kegs,” she said. “This drives the audience wild.”
Vocalist drums and percussionist Joel ‘Thunderfoot’ Purkess said the high from pleasing the audience was what inspired them to create music together.
“The reaction we get from people is an experience you can never really get from any other job,” he said.
“When you get that feeling back you just want to intensify it.”
Varsity Lakes local Lukas Czop said he never missed a show because of Mason Rack’s alternative blues style and unique stage performance.
“The guys [The Mason Rack band] have character, charisma and a musical talent that is out of this world,” he said.
“I’m bummed that they are leaving but I hope when they hit it big they will always come back to Varsity [Lakes].”
Frontman Mason Rack said he hoped they could make it through the challenging journey and make their musical mark.
“We ultimately want to stay alive, keep helping people through our music and be happy,” he said.
The Mason Rack band will be making their comeback performance at Hotel CBD on September 4, 2010 at 8pm.
