Varsity Lakes mums said they were enjoying the social benefits of group fitness training.
Fitness trainer Theresa Wells said the weekly two-hour Stroller Fitness sessions have attracted a steady following of mothers and children.
The group had been running in Varsity Lakes for six years and was gaining in popularity, Mrs Wells said.
She said the sessions focused on physical exercise but also provided a social outlet for mothers and their children.
“Socially, it’s great because they all get to compare notes,” she said.
“If they’ve had a bad night, they can come here and express that.”
Mrs Wells said several mothers in her class had formed friendships.
“They all get to know each other and good friendships are made not only with the mums but with the kids as well,” she said.
Varsity Lakes mum Clare Allen, who has been attending the sessions for more than a year, said she enjoyed the social element.
“It’s been great meeting other mums,” she said.
“If you need advice on anything, this is a good place to get it.
“I’ve got friends now from here. We’ll catch up once a week, either stay back after class or catch up at each other’s house during the week.”
Mrs Allen said her son Kyron also enjoyed the social interaction.
“He loves getting to meet other little ones and just getting out in the fresh air,” she said.
Lake Cafe manager Nick Breuss said he noticed groups of mothers in the restaurant on Thursday mornings.
“They come in with their prams after their fitness [class],” he said.
“It’s always good for business.”
Stroller fitness classes leave from Delfin House at 9am every Thursday.
