Lake Café and Bar hosted a three-course lunch with live music for the Melbourne Cup 2010 on Tuesday, November 2.
The owner of Lake Café & Bar Gerhard Breuss said the restaurant was well booked for the luncheon.
“We served 100 guests on this event,” he said.
The guests enjoyed a free glass of champagne with a three-course menu accompanied by live music before the race.
Mr Breuss said the entire restaurant was especially adorned for the event and big screens were available in every room to watch the race.
“The restaurant is decorated in bright colours like the dress code of the riders,” he said.
“We organised sweeps, lucky door, best dress, and best hats prizes for our guests.”
Varsity Lakes resident Amanda Cotton and her girlfriends got all dressed up for the Melbourne Cup and deliberately took the afternoon off to attend the event.
“It’s too important an event to miss,” she said.
Shortly before 2pm the music stopped playing and the guests excitedly watched the race on one of the big screens to see if their favourite horse won.
