Varsity Lakes Travel, Konica Minolta and the Gold Coast Hear and Say Centre have joined together to host an annual charity ball on Friday 4 September, with all proceeds being donated to the Hear and Say Centre.
The Gold Coast Hear and Say Centre is a branch of the children’s charity with the ability to change the lives of deaf children and their families by giving them the gift of sound and speech.
Since 1996, the Hear and Say Centre has hosted annual charity balls across the state and this year is the first year the Gold Coast has been chosen to host the event.
Conrad Jupiters will be transformed into a Parisian Moulin Rouge theme providing an evening of Parisian mystery, decadent French dining, awe-inspiring can-can dancers and amazing auctions.
Managing director of Varsity Lakes Travel, Nic Rone said he was contemplating organising a ball later this year, but when he found out about another Varsity Lakes business being involved, he jumped at the opportunity.
“In the spirit of working in a local community, I wanted to assist the Hear and Say Centre in bringing awareness to their campaign,” Mr Rone said.
“I also wanted to assist in raising funds within the challenging financial times we are currently facing.
“Over the past few years, I have actively been involved in organising events for a number of charities, including a golf charity day for the Hear and Say Centre last year,” he said.
Varsity Lakes Senior Project Director Carl Bruhn said the charity ball was an excellent opportunity for Varsity Lakes residents and businesses to support children in need.
“It is very exciting to have Varsity Lakes businesses host the charity ball this year – especially since it will be the first time it’s held on the Gold Coast,” Mr Bruhn said.
“I would encourage those in the community to dig deep to assist the Hear and Say Centre – it is an excellent opportunity to help those who are less fortunate than us,” he said.
