Varsity Lakes Valentine’s Day romance
Varsity retailers are preparing to spread a touch of romance this Valentine’s Day.
Restaurant manager Matthew Little said the lake views and chance of good weather provided an ideal romantic setting.
Mr Little said Valentine’s Day meant his staff had to put in a lot of work preparing the day.
“We serve different dishes on our menu as well as our regular dishes, people like having a choice and we have a diverse customer base,” he said.
“There is more work in having couples as opposed to larger groups.”
Blooms on Varsity florist owner Carol Hall said it was the biggest day of the year for their business.
“It’s huge, we work really long days...we start at 5am and work until we have sold out of stock.”
Love is in the air

You can feel that love is in the air, at least in the restaurants and shops in Varsity Lakes.
Lake Café and Bar manager Luke Breuss said they were going all out for the special day.
“On Valentines Day we’re decorating the entire restaurant up with hearts, flowers,” he said.
Mr Breuss said the restaurant would have a special Valentines menu which included mini mud cakes in the shape of hearts for dessert.
With Valentines Day falling on a Saturday night many restaurants would be extra busy, he said.
“In the weekends we’re normally pretty booked up, and for the special occasion of Valentines Day we have a lot of reservations,” Mr Breuss said.
“Despite this we still have about 50 seats left, so it is still possible to get a table, but we do recommend people to make a booking before hand, as we are likely to be fully booked on the night.”
The Lake Café and Bar won the prestigious Restaurant Catering Queensland award for Best Café/Restaurant in 2008.
