A Varsity Lakes travel agency held an information evening at Lake Café and Bar recently to promote European holidaying to local residents.

Varsity Lakes Travel (VLT) held the event to educate and inform locals on what was available in terms of European tours and holidays.

With the Australian dollar at .617 Euro and .556 GBP, traveling to Europe is currently more affordable than it has been over the past year.

Varsity Lakes Travel owner Nic Rone said they specialise in European holidays and have found information evenings one of the best ways to convey their knowledge.

“Europe is a very difficult destination to plan online, simply because it takes a lot of knowledge regarding language barriers and currencies,” Mr Rone said.

“That is why we are here to help and educate travelers to be safe and secure, not only for themselves, but also financially.”

Varsity Lakes resident Anna Mackillop said she went to the information evening because she was planning a European holiday with her friends next year.

“My friends and I are on a budget so I am looking for the best deals to ensure we can explore the main attractions of Europe,” Miss Mackillop said.

“The information night has already provided me with helpful tips to move from country to country, which I was unaware of.

“I am excited to share this information with my friends and plan the rest of our trip together.”

Mr Rone said the economic downturn had not affected his business in the past twelve months as much as he had expected.

“People are now planning their holidays further in advance as they feel more secure within their jobs,” Mr Rone said.

“At the end of the day, you’re the one who sets the price and we endeavour to plan the most suitable holiday for the budget required,” he said.

Mr Rone said jetsetters should do as much research as possible when planning a European holiday to ensure they get the best value for money and that their expectations are met.
