Despite the current economic state effecting real estate and business owners, Varsity Lakes is still attracting companies who want to buy or lease property in the area.
Staff at the Ray White, Robina and Varsity Lakes, commercial office said there had been a leasing boom in the first quarter of 2009.
Sales and Leasing Consultant for Ray White Ben Ingwersen said there has been a mix of small companies and franchises moving into the area.
“The thing that attracts businesses to Varsity Lakes is its recent growth and development,” he said.
“It’s also a more affordable market compared to Robina.”
Owner of Cucina Pizza Cafe Cameron Suardana said he was new to the Varsity Lakes area and had previously owned a restaurant in Carrara.
“I wanted to start a restaurant in Varsity because of the growing community in the surrounding area, especially Bond University,” he said.
"I have lived on the coast for all of my life and 10 years ago the Varsity Area was a dense swamp and to see where it has gone since then, I can only expect it to grow even more.”
Staff at the Ray White Commercial Real Estate office also said thought the area’s popularity would continue to increase.
Commercial sales and leasing consultant Ben Ingwersen provided a Public Relations release about the growth and future of Varsity Lakes.
“The Robina and or Varsity Lakes precinct has become the second largest office precinct on the Gold Coast and if development continues at the current pace then it is possible in time it will overtake Southport to become the largest,”  the press release said.
