Varsity Lakes locals said infrastructure, facilities and atmosphere were the key attractions for new residents.
Robina Ray White real estate agent Chris Lamb said many people chose to live in Varsity Lakes because of its proximity to Robina Town Centre and Bond University.
The atmosphere and facilities would specifically be attractive to a younger demographic he said.
“Price-wise, it’s a great investment too,” said Mr Lamb.
“You have a young demographic in the area, it’s close to Bond University, and most of the shops and bars are targeted at this demographic.”
Mr Lamb also said government investment in infrastructure, such as the recently completed train station, also attracted people to the area.
“It’s always pretty full down at the new station, even with the Robina station right down the road it’s been doing a lot of business,” he said
“It’s been really good for Varsity Lakes.”
A number of creative individuals said they through Varsity Lakes offered a unique working environment.
Gold Coast Design Studios graphic and web designer Jeffrey Davidson said he found commuting to work each day much easier since the train station opened.
“I really enjoy working here,” he said.
“Everything is so accessible and the Lake is nice to sit by and clarify my ideas on my breaks.
“The fact that I can get here easier from now on is a bonus.”
Blogger and student photographer Sheridan Gill said there was a creative culture in the area.
“The energy around here is great,” she said.
“It’s so easy for me to just set up and take shots of people and shots for the blog.
“Everyone is so upbeat.”
