Varsity Lakes Embraces Alternative Childcare Facilities

By Tiffany Eastland, Kara Firth and Jorja-Lee Wallace, Bond University Journalism Students

A new childcare centre offering alternative programs which has already proved popular with Varsity Lakes families, opened in Reedy Creek last November.

About 50 percent of children enrolled in RedLeaf Early Learning Centre come from Varsity Lakes.

RedLeaf was established by Linda and Jason Burnett with the vision of building a childcare service that was eco-friendly and catered for a variety of age groups.

Centre Director Jane Maitland said the facilities were innovative and addressed the individual needs of each child.

“We have seven studios which are broken up into different age groups,” she said.

“We have provisions to be able to provide for two types of play grounds for different developmental stages.”

Mrs Maitland said the centre aimed to offer a unique and welcoming experience for children and their families.

“We do have lovely facilities and all the best that can be provided in childcare,” she said.

Mrs Maitland said it was a rewarding working environment.

“It’s a really nice place to work ... and as a director I portray that onto the staff as well, and they seem to be enjoying it,” she said.
