A former Varsity Lakes skin care company has taken the grease out of udder balm to help sensitive-skin sufferers. MooGoo marketing manager Angelique Ahearn said the product’s founder, dairy farmer Craig Jones, adapted a balm used in dairy farms to help his mother’s skin condition. The dairy version of this balm was designed to heal cow’s udders and keep them in good condition for milking. “He reformulated the balm, keeping the skin healing properties, to make it less greasy so it was better for human use,” she said. “She just loved it.” Mrs Ahearn said Craig’s mother told others about the cream, which became very popular, offering relief to sensitive-skin sufferers where nothing else had worked. “He had to package it up for them, and they wanted to buy it,” she said. “From there it was born, and then he started developing more products after that.” MooGoo stockist Robina GO VITA naturopath Billie-Jo McDear said they had received positive customer feedback, especially about the eczema and psoriasis balm and the shampoo. “It walks off the shelf, we can’t keep up with the growing demand,” she said. Mrs Ahearn said MooGoo also supported the community, was environmentally friendly and reused recycled materials for packaging and promotional materials. “Our products are made in one of the first carbon neutral facilities in Australia,” she said. Mrs Ahearn said MooGoo’s first commercial business was located in Varsity Lakes; thereafter they expanded to Tweed Heads South.
