The Basement Opens its Doors

By Rosemary Timmins and Julian Jantos Bond University Students

A store for skateboarding, motor-cross and surfing enthusiasts opened its doors in Varsity Lakes last weekend.
The Basement owner Cameron Williams said he originally opened a store in West Burleigh two years ago.
However, he said the move to Varsity Lakes was a consumer orientated decision.
“The brands that we have here really suit the demographic of Varsity Lakes,” he said.
“The youth and the sport driven.”
Mr Williams said he aimed to bring both local brands and international brands to the store.
“We’re really trying to get the store into a position where it has the wow factor,” he said.
Local resident Marde Holt said she was excited about the store and the VIP discounts offered.
“It’s fantastic having a store nearby that has wheels for my board and some great looking cloths,” she said.
Bond University law student Julianna Cuda said she had already visited the store several times and made use of the university student discount offered.
“A 10 percent discount just for showing my university card, I’ll be back again for sure,” she said.
The Basement is located on 7 / 240 Varsity Parade, Varsity Lakes.
