The Varsity community is being whipped into shape every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.
Tae Bo is an exercise which teaches a person to communicate with the body.
Varsity Tae Bo instructor Neri Holladay said the program combined a variety of exercise including martial arts, boxing and dance.
“It’s a tough class but all sorts of modifications can be made to make movements easier,” she said.
Neri said Saturday classes are held at 9.30am and were suitable beginners as it focused on technique. “The first class is free and anyone can join,” she said.
Regular sessions commence Tuesday 6am as well as Saturday 11am at the Hope Church.
There is also a Wednesday class held at 6pm at the Varsity College middle performing arts building.
Nerang resident Christian Kahnt said she had recently started Tae Bo classes but has always held an active and healthy lifestyle.
“I used to amateur box but my eyesight became an issue,” Christian said.
“I lost my gym membership when my parents moved away, so I started Tae Bo.
“I feel as if I’m in the best shape of my life. “I like this because it builds lean muscle which is easier to maintain.”
Classes are $10 each and $8 for students.
