The Robina Town Centre (RTC) northern malls redevelopment was named Australia’s best shopping centre at the fourth annual Property Council of Australia Innovation and Excellence Awards.
RTC beat five other contenders to win the award for the best Shopping Centre at the award ceremony held at Star City in Sydney on June 19.
RTC senior centre manager Ian Ferguson said he was pleased with the win.
“We knew we had a great product and we were confident going into the awards and we were in good company too, with five other finalist across Australia, but the best thing is that customers like it,” he said.
Mr Ferguson said the Robina shopping centre was now Queensland’s largest shopping mall with 347 shops and 23 offices.
There are also plans to continue expanding the centre, Mr Ferguson said.
“We’re continually looking at ways to improve the centre,” he said.
“We have some long term views but at the moment we’re concentrating on getting the Myer store open later this year.”
Varsity Lakes resident Jyunichi Washizaki said he went to Robina Town Centre most weekends.
“I’ve been coming to RTC for a very long time now, close to three years, and this place just keeps getting bigger and bigger,” he said.
“I usually come on weekends to do my groceries and have the occasional chocolate at Max Brenner by the lake.
“I love this place, it is probably the only mall I go to here on the coast.”
Bungee trampoline employee Gigi Yee said she liked RTC’s outdoor vicinity after the development of the Promenade.
“It’s a very beautiful mall, very clean and so many new places have popped up here recently,” she said.
