Friday, 13 February 2009: An appeal run by Bendigo and Adelaide Bank to raise funds for communities affected by Cyclone Ellie has reached $100,000.
The Appeal hit the $50,000 milestone in community donations today, with Bendigo and Adelaide Bank donating a further $50,000.
Late this afternoon, the Appeal had reached $100,841.
Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s Bushfire Appeal has reached a staggering $3.6 million, less than a week after the fires.
Varsity Lakes Community Bank® Branch Manager Steven Foster said community company directors and staff wanted to support communities impacted by the flood in North Queensland.
“And of course, the devastating bushfires in Victoria – the home State of our banking partner, Bendigo and Adelaide Bank,” Steven Foster said.
“We really wanted to do something meaningful to assist those who have been affected by these devastating events.
“As they say, every little bit helps and we know that the donations from our community company and from local residents and businesses will go directly to those in need in the north, and the south, of Australia.”
“We will continue to help to raise funds that will be distributed quickly to those in need, when and where they need it,” Mr Foster said.
Donations to the North Queensland Flood Appeal and Victorian Bushfire Appeal can be made at varsity Lakes Community Bank® Branch.
Credit card donations can be made on line at www.bendigobank.com.au
Donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible.
