After more than five years of operation, Mexican takeaway restaurant Los Hombres is still bringing the true taste of Mexico to Varsity Lakes.

In Australia, Mexican food is not always a popular choice for dining. Many Mexican restaurants serve food that is quite different from traditional Mexican dishes.

What makes Los Hombres in Market Square so popular and successful? The owner Brett Butler lived in California for eight years and became a chef and took an interest in the cuisine of neighbouring Mexico.

In 2005 Brett used his knowledge of Mexican food and the skills he acquired in the USA to open Los Hombres.

Brett summed up Los Hombres in one sentence: “It’s home made California style Mexican with fresh healthy ingredients and everything is made to order.”

A better location could not have been chosen by Brett in the up and coming Varsity Lakes with many Bond students being from the USA, and miss their Mexican food.

Los Hombres also has all of their dishes available in vegetarian as well as adding some Australian friendly foods to the menu like wedges.

Local business owner and regular at Los Hombres, Andrew Daley has lived in the USA and loves his Mexican food.

“Good Mexican food is hard to find. Los Hombres is the best Mexican food I’ve had in Australia,” said Mr Daley.
