Varsity Lakes is set to become the home of a brand new 120 bed private hospital.

Gold Coast City Council has confirmed that they have granted BCEG (Australia) permission to go ahead and construct a private hospital on University Drive.

The three level complex will be equipped with 120 beds and a 75 car basement.

The hospital will be built on 5819sqm (approx), which costed BCEG (Australia) $2.9 million last year.

Aged care homes, Domain Varsity Rise and The Terrace will be neighbours of the hospital.

The hospital is proposed to have pathology, radiology, ultrasound and endoscopy departments, as well as six surgical rooms, research areas and a cafe.

Varsity Lakes resident, Tania Krecek said it would make the area much busier.
“There will be a lot more traffic around,” she said.

“But I do think that it will accommodate the Gold Coast’s growing population,” she said.

Project manager, Paul Piercy, said he was unable to comment on the progress or timelines at this stage.
