New Addition to Melting Pot Mix of Cuisine

A new bistro, Mecca, opened its doors on May 17 replacing ‘The Salt Box’.

Mecca owner Marisa Naismith said she bought the premises and renovated it to reflect the atmosphere.

“I wanted to create a wonderful, warm ambience,” she said.

Mrs Naismith said she hoped the cafe would become a ‘Mecca’ of great coffee and food.

“Many of the locals have been coming back regularly,” she said.

“We’ve introduced a new-age cafe style.”

Varsity Lakes resident Jasmine White said she had already eaten at Mecca a few times.

“It’s become a popular place for my friends and I to dine at, whether it’s a quick coffee, or dinner,” she said.

As the name suggests, Mecca has potential to become an up and coming centre of activity and interest in its area.

Mecca is located at Shop A1, ‘Market Square’, 201 Varsity Parade, Varsity Lakes.
