A new initiative between Bond and Signature Dish Café in Varsity Lakes is giving a young man with cerebral palsy an opportunity to work within the community.
Every Monday Nathan Runyan-Tait, with the help of his carer, is making lunch deliveries from Signature Dish to Bond’s Marketing and Admissions staff.
Nathan picks up the food from the café in a custom-designed tray in his wheelchair and secured change float, once the staff of Marketing and Admissions have ordered their food by phone off Signature Dish’s Facebook page menu.
Nathan’s mother and Head of Central Marketing at Bond, Valerie Runyan said she is very pleased with the initiative and cooperation by Bond and Signature Dish.
”We believe that people with a disability should be given the chance to participate in society like everyone else,” she said.
“The delivery service gives Nathan a chance to form his own identity separate from his parents and too interact in his own social circles.”
”Nathan has embraced the whole program and is really enjoying it with the help of the welcoming team down at Signature Dish.”
A second positive action from the delivery service is a percentage of the profits made from Nathan’s work is going to be donated to a charity of Nathan’s choice.
Signature Dish owner Jo Jackson said that the delivery service has been a success and they are very happy to be apart of such an initiative.
“It’s a great opportunity to give Nathan something special and we are looking forward to taking it further with more meals into more departments and even possibly a delivery to students studying in the library,” she said.
”It is fantastic to think that when someone orders a meal from us it is having such a positive affect on another person's life.”
