Mutto To Headline Run For Fun

Local music identity Guy “Mutto” Mutton will be the headline performer at the Varsity Lakeside Run For Fun next month.

The local schoolteacher shot to national prominence as a Season 4 Australian Idol finalist after a number of years fronting Gold Coast band Soulframe.

Gaining recognition from Idol judges for his distinctive vocal style as well as his unique name and cryptic hand messages, the Run For Fun will allow local fans to hear the Gold Coast singer / songwriter and witness his captivating personality.

Mutto is now focused on developing his solo career and that involves being in supreme physical condition for his onstage performances.

“I will be recommending the run to my students as it’s a great way to get out and support the local community”, Mutto said.

“There’s a good chance that I might even have a crack at the 5k to get warmed-up before I go on-stage”.

While combining his music gigs with his teaching job as head of primary sport at Hillcrest Christian College, Mutto stays active in local sport through basketball and mixed netball.

For the first time the Varsity Lakes community will play host to a large scale suburban sporting event in the Run For Fun on Sunday 22nd May.

The Varsity lakes Community Ltd initiative is supported by Lend Lease, Bond University and the Gold Coast City Council, and will feature a 9km run & 5km walk.

The race will start and finish at Central Park and a number of family activities will be on offer including fitness testing, treasure hunts and face-painting.

Varsity lakes Community Limited (VLCL) was established to provide leadership and foster ongoing community interaction and involvement in Varsity Lakes, and will continue the commitments established by Varsity Lakes developer Delfin Lend Lease by promoting social, business, environmental, economic and physical wellbeing programs and initiatives for the local community.

The VLCL community group model is seen as a first in the transition between a master planned community developer and the community once it finalises its development commitment.
