Last Monday’s monthly moonlight walk proved to be a hit with more than just Varsity Lakes residents.
A group of approximately seven people from as far as Mudgeeraba and Coolangatta joined together to walk a path around Lake Orr during this month’s full moon.
The group, mostly made up of women, had various motivations for joining the moonlight tour.
Local resident Helen Young said this was a great way to loose weight, get fit, and begin socializing more.
“I saw moonlight, walking, and thought how nice - I have to start exercising anyway so I thought why not,” Ms Young said.
Another local Diane Ednie thought the group was a safe way to walk at night.
“I don’t like going out at night by myself, so I thought I might as well go with a group,” said Ms Ednie.
“I wish that it was more frequent, to help get your fitness up.”
Several of the women found this event through ads in the local newspaper and in the Gold Coast Booklet.
The moonlight walk takes place every full moon; the next walk will meet at Delfin House on October 14 at 7pm.
