Mojo Rhythm drops a beat in Varsity

Mojo Rhythm invites people to join
them in drumming

Some people frequently pass by the tunnel beneath Bermuda St and wonder what the low drumming sounds are.

Two gents that call themselves “Mojo Rhythm” will often be found beating their drums in this tunnel, which is just by Varsity Lakes Tavern.

Stephen Joseph, one of the drummers, explains that he and his partner rather to play with the acoustics of the tunnel.

“It’s really good,” said Mr Joseph.

“Plus, when we play at my place, my tyres get slashed.”

Residents of Varsity Lakes either walk by them casually, or sit to enjoy their music and company.

The Mojo Rhythm men do not expect a crowd, but love an audience.

“Even when three people sit down to listen, it’s more than enough,” said Mr Joseph.

A resident of Varsity Lakes, Sam Kingsley, sees these drummers frequently playing in the tunnel on his way home.

“I probably see them once every three weeks at least,” said Mr Kingsley.

“They’re pretty funky.”

Born as entertainers, these guys of Mojo Rhythm plan to continue beating their drums in the tunnel in the future.

They welcome and encourage anyone who loves drums to ‘bust a beat’ with them.
