Valentine’s Day 2011 was a big day for Varsity Lake's restaurants and florists with sales sky rocketing.
Lake Cafe Manager Luke Breuss said they’ve been open for four years and it was one of the busiest years yet.
"It gets busier every year, we stopped taking reservations at around 4pm yesterday because all 50, two seated tables were already reserved, the place was packed but had a great atmosphere,” he said
The Lake Cafe served their Al a Carte menu all day, along with a romantic Valentines Menu for two.
"I think the Menu did it for us this year, we had a wide variety and the bar was making our popular Valentine cocktail, Lake Love Potion (Brandy, champagne, sugar cube) non-stop."
Blooms on Varsity owner Carol Hall has also been flat on her feet, repairing her now empty store.
"We've had to put a sign on our door saying we're not open, there are no flowers left," said Ms Hall.
"It was a really stressful day, it always is, but this year when the roses were gone people just took what was left and now we've got nothing until the next order comes in this afternoon," she said.
