(By Tiffany Breed and Liana Hanley - Bond Journalism Students) A local talent agency represents nationally known celebrities, actors, models and other creative professionals including a number of TV Week Logie award winners.
Williams Talent director Gael McDonald said the agency opened eight years ago and was founded by Madonna Williams and manages clients at a national and international level.
“We represent celebrities such as Lincoln Lewis who stars in Home and Away and has just finished a new Australian film entitled Tomorrow when the war begun”, she said.
“We are selective although [we] also take on raw talent. “Basically you send us your resume and we assess your acting experience and then [we] see what you’re like on camera and how confident you are.”
Mrs McDonald said they also hold acting classes that are taught by Hugh Parker who has appeared on both The strip and The office. “At the end of the class Mr Parker gives the agency feedback and tells us if they are ready to join,” she said.
Varsity lakes resident Nidhi Krishnan said she had no idea there was such a well known agency in the area and thought the acting classes were a great chance to be noticed.
“I do love the performing arts so the acting would be interested in acting classes that could lead to representation”, she said. “It’s definately something I would look into especially since it’s so local”.
Acting classes run for 10 weeks on Thursdays and costs $490.
