While many 19 year olds are trying to weigh up their career choices, one local teenager has already decided to take on his own business. Just-in-Tiling owner Justin Corby said he had always wanted to own his own business and achieved this last year when he was 18. Mr Corby said at times it was difficult to be a young business owner - when his friends were out partying and he had to work - but it was worth the sacrifice. “Sometimes when life hands you an opportunity, you just have to run with it,” he said. Investor Laura Campbell said she hired Mr Corby to work on the Varsity Lakes investment properties she had recently bought. Mrs Campbell said she was surprised Justin was still a teenager as he handled himself and his company with the maturity of someone older. “I remember calling tilers from the directory on a Sunday afternoon and Justin was the only one to answer his phone,” she said. “He arrived on my doorstep an hour later to inspect my apartment and give me a quote.
“I was more than impressed to say the least at his efforts.” Just-in-Tiling tiler Aaron Dayes said initially he was hesitant to work for such a young man. “As a tiler, I knew that Justin was great but as a boss, I just didn’t know what to expect,” Aaron said. “Now that I’ve worked with him for a while, I sometimes forget how young he is because of his professionalism.” Mr Corby said he hoped to expand his business across the state before he reached his 25th birthday.
