Battleworks Hip Hop Class

By Hannah Pettett, Bond University Journalism Student

Twenty-something Varsity Lakes resident Ali McGuigan hung up her ballet shoes to open Battleworks Dance Academy last July.

Miss McGuigan decided to settle down and fulfil her dream of opening a dance school after many years of on-stage performing.

Battleworks currently has classes for all ages in Hip-Hop, Jazz, Ballet and TinyTots, a class specifically catered for young children.

Miss McGuigan said learning to dance is a great way to get fit.

“Dancing is a fun way to increase strength, flexibility, stamina, memory and coordination and our classes cater to all ages from the young to young at heart,” she said.

Miss McGuigan has an Advanced Diploma of Dance and an Advanced Diploma in Art as well as has danced with a prominent American Ballet company.

Classes are currently being held in the Varsity College Middle School Performing Arts room at various times during the week.

To find out times or for any other enquiries contact Miss McGuigan directly on 0406602649 or email at battleworks@live.com.au
