Hotel CBD the place to be for State of Origin

By Chloe Pelham and Jessica O’Dea, Bond University Journalism students.

For this year’s first State of Origin game, Hotel CBD hosted an event featuring themed decorations, prizes and the game was screened on every television.
Queensland and New South Wales supporters turned out in their colours on the night to watch the Maroons win 28-18.
Assistant Manager Kelly Sangster said the clean up the next day showed how successful the night was.
“Wednesday night was a great turn out.”
Ms Sangster said the event was well planned including a courtesy bus to curb drink driving.
“Locals enjoy coming here, as it’s a great place to watch sport,” she said.
“There’s a lot of TV screens to view from and there’s a great atmosphere.
Varsity Lakes resident Cameron Williams said he loved watching sport at Hotel CBD.
“CBD is awesome for Origin, its close and it goes off,” he said.
“I’d definitely recommend it for the next two games.”
Hotel CBD will be hosting the second State of Origin event on Wednesday June 24.
