Varsity Lakes resident Rugby Union player Lee Charles Purves dreams of one day playing the ‘Tight Head Prop’ position for the Wallabies.
At 195 centimetres tall and 140 kilograms, Lee is known to his team mates as ‘Fridge’, however to his opponents he is more like a brick wall.
Lee started playing rugby union at four years old for the Nerang Bulls, then worked his way up to the top team at his High School in 2006 and is now playing in the under 20’s Colts division for the Gold Coast Breakers.
In 2007 Lee represented Queensland in an invitational competition against other state under 20 teams and has trained at the Queensland Institute of Sport.
Lee said: “it’s the love of the game that drives me to try and perform my best at every game and every training session.”
Captain of the Breakers Colts team Joshua Cooper who also played with Lee at The Southport School said: “Lee is a hard worker, is dependable and gets the job done.”
After serious run of injuries plaguing Lee’s 2008 season he is still looking towards improving his health and fitness for next season.
The City Finance Breakers under 20 Colts team have been experiencing a tough seasons currently sitting in eight place with Queensland University Colts team topping the table.
