Fit Days in the holidays!

The Active After-school Communities (AASC) program, an Australian Government sporting initiative, will host the first ever AASC “Fit Day” at Central Park, Varsity Lakes on Saturday 10th July from 10.00am – 2.00pm.

The Fit Day concept was created by AASC Regional Coordinator Greg Fox.  It aims to introduce a cross-section of sports to families in a friendly atmosphere and encourage them to take up a physical activity on a regular basis.

“We plan to hold these Fit Days as an ongoing school holiday activity along the Gold Coast”, Fox said.

“It will be great to see families interacting together and having a good time in the winter sun”.

“Information and incentives will be provided at each Fit Day to children and adults on how to take the next step into organised sport”.

A special feature of the day will be a Kids-Only Treasure Hunt at 11.00am, facilitated by local adventure game deliverer Kidz Quest.

Other sports that will be showcased on the day will include soccer, martial arts, basketball and baseball.

The AASC Fit Day is part of the School Holidays Calendar of Fun organised by Varsity Lakes Community Limited.

The AASC program is a free Australian Government initiative that is delivered nationally and promotes the transition of primary school children into community sport. Around 150 000 children take part each term, gaining the opportunity to experience over 70 different sports and up to 20 other structured physical activities.
