The Terraces in Varsity Lakes plans to have a memorial service on November 23 to remember those who have passed.

This event occurs every six months.

Other events are planned to enhance the stay of the residents.

The most recent was an Open Day on October 17 to inform the community about the different care they offer.

In order to welcome the community they had a baby animal farm, a jumping castle, and face painting, as well as door prizes and tours of the facility.

The 25 new super suites, which contain a bedroom and a lounge for low care residents seeking independence, were also opened on Open Day.

The facility has only been established for a year.

The residents also have Christmas celebrations which include skits, concerts, and a trip out into the community to see the lights.

“Looking at the lights is always really nice,” said director of nursing, Suzanne Norambuena.

The Terraces also has a close relationship with Varsity College in which the students teach the residents about computers and the Bond Uni Medical School.

Facility operations manager, Sandy Foote, discussed the atmosphere they strive to provide.

“First and foremost we are a community inside a community, and most importantly a home,” she said.

The Terraces offers a friendly environment in which family members are always welcome.

Their staff are highly qualified and their services go beyond just health relations, offering an in-house salon and dietary consultation.

They provide both high and low care which allows them to remain a long term care facility even if a resident’s needs change.
