Elevation on the Move

By Elyse McNeil and Elise Vout - Bond University Journalism Students

Elevation church has finally moved from the temporary residence at Varsity College to its new home at Varsity Lakes.

Associate Pastor Olivia Wall said the move had been fantastic after months of having to a temporary venue.

“It’s been a journey but it has been very exciting... this is our first day in the location, so a little bit of chaos but the move has still been really good,” she said.

Previously located in Robina Town Centre, the restructuring of the centre forced Elevation to move.

“It was a bit tucked away in Robina,” said Ms Wall.

Elevation Church’s mission is essentially to ‘reach out’ to the community which they achieve in a number of different ways.

One way in which they achieve this is through a major project undertaken by the church called ‘Global Care’.

This program provides food to people in real need at minimal cost, feeding about 60 families that are struggling financially.

The most important thing is that they leave with their dignity said Elevation steward Elaine Jefferies.

Another project underway at Elevation is the involvement with the ‘She Home’ in Cambodia for young girls who are in prostitution.

The aim of this is to provide the girls with the skills they need to start a new life, away from the prostitution they have been forced into said Ms Wall.

The next project for Elevation is a Kokoda trail trek aimed to raise for funds for interactive white boards for Mudgeeraba State School.

Elevation Church is located at:
