Despite Having Setbacks Just Keep Smiling!

By Laurie Patison – Bond University Journalism Student

A local Varsity Lakes business has overcome economic and location issues to keep providing their retail services in the Varsity Lakes area.
Kym Design owners Mrs Kym Anthony and her mother Mrs Wendy Lung opened their homeware and interior design store in September 2007.
Mrs Anthony said the store used to be busy but because of the economic crisis and other shops in the area closing sales had begun to slow.
“There just seems to be nobody around like there use to be as most have no money and there are not many shops staying put,” she said.
Despite these setbacks the family business still said their priority was customer service and providing a friendly atmosphere.
Mrs Wendy Lung said she and her daughter Kym would do everything possible to keep their store afloat.
“We would hate to leave,” she said.
“We are just going to stick in there.
“It’ such a beautiful place for all, to work and too live.”
Nevertheless Wendy said both she and her daughter had a genuine love of people and providing a positive retail experience for customers.
“The people just give us so much joy.”
