Hope Church is polishing the jingle bells and dusting off the Santa hats in preparation for this year’s holiday season and is inviting the Varsity Lakes Community to join them.
To start the holiday season, Hope Church and Delfin will be co-hosting the fifth “Varsity Lakes Carols Carnival 2008” on December 7 at 6pm.
The Carnival will showcase the singing of Hope Church’s own choir and host other local singers to raise funds for the Hear and Say Centre.
All proceeds from the event will go towards the Queensland-based Hear and Say Centre, helping the families of deaf and hearing impaired children.
Worship Pastor Ric Kelso said Hope Church would also be holding its annual Christmas Concert on December 14.
“We are revamping traditional carols…you know, funk them up a bit,” said Pastor Kelso with a grin.
Connections Pastor Justin Reid said the Christmas Concert’s focus was on the internal church, offering a relaxing, comfortable environment for church-goers to enjoy some untraditional Christmas carols.
“The goal is to bring a Christmas message and contemporise it, all in a friendly environment,” he said. Hope Church will also be holding an hour long Christmas Eve service on December 24 at 6pm where attendants can enjoy more traditional carols.
