The Cucina Pizza Cafe in Market Square which is under new ownership and will unveil its new menu and refurbishment during the grand opening on Saturday, June 6. Owner Cameron Suardana said he hoped the new store would become a hangout for students. “When I came into the store I targeted uni students to start off with, and the young families around … Varsity Lakes,” he said. “I tried to keep the prices down as best I could, which I think I did pretty reasonably compared to other places going around.” The restaurant features internet, diner-style booths, take away, dine in and delivery pizza, pastas, salads and gelato and is the only place in Queensland that offers Portioli and Velvet coffee. Cucina will have specials for university students and live music on Saturday nights. Bond University biomedical science student Cassandra Jeavons said Cucina was what a lot of students had been waiting for. “Living on campus, we often want to eat out, but prices and availability of good food often prevent us from doing so,” she said. “That Cucina is going to be open at night, offer uni specials and cater to the student age range will definitely guarantee a lot of business from us.” The June 6 grand opening will start at 6pm, local DJ Rory Cosgriff will be playing and all pizzas will be $10. |
