Busy Bodies Australia is promoting business community ties with its corporate sports competition, Weekday Warriors.
Each week business teams from across the Gold Coast come to Varsity Lakes to challenge each other in games of touch football.
Busy Bodies recreation and events manager Fiona Galletly said the competition was a great opportunity for team bonding within the work place.
“It combines fitness and fun and promotes healthy workplace relations,” she said.
“It’s also a chance for people to network with other businesses in the area.”
Fiona said there are currently six teams in the competition, some representing corporations, such as IBM and Bendigo Bank.
Gold Coast City Council and Conics employees are members of the Cobras team.
Cobras team member Emma Conte said she enjoyed the competition and would continue throughout the year.
“I’m from Melbourne so this is only the third time I’ve played,” she said. “I’m still learning the rules, but it’s a great form of exercise and a good way to meet people.”
The competition runs throughout the year with netball and volleyball seasons soon approaching.
The games take place at Central Park from 5pm on Tuesdays. Other Busy Bodies programs include fitness for over 50s and children’s birthday parties.
