Gold Coast fashion designer Kate Campbell is busy putting the final touches on frocks and fascinators for Melbourne Cup on Tuesday, November 2.
The 20-year-old aspiring fashion designer has become well known amongst Gold Coast fashionistas for her feminine and sophisticated collections.
Kate’s client database has grown significantly over the past 12 months since placing eleventh in the 2009 Gold Coast Confidential Best Dressed Awards, where she modelled her own designs.
“It’s been great - I’ve gained lots of publicity from it and many new customers,” said Kate.
Varsity Lakes resident, friend and loyal customer of Kate’s, Ruby Korver is excited to show off her one of a kind frock come race day.
“I’m wearing a dress that she custom-designed for me. I can’t wait to show it off next Tuesday,” said Ruby.
“You can tell that Kate has a natural eye for what looks good, her pieces have always been pretty and designed with the female figure in mind.”
Kate’s designs are inspired by all things feminine and beautiful and draw on inspiration from iconic designers like Carla Zampatti who she recently met at a ladies’ luncheon held at Marina Mirage.
Kate plans on spending her Melbourne Cup day at the Gold Coast Turf Club with friends enjoying the day after a busy couple of weeks in the sewing room.
“I just want to relax with my girlfriends, put a few bets down and hope for a win - it’s been a stressful month,” said Kate.
