The Varsity-based Hope church hopes to attract about 8000 people at the annual Varsity Lakes Christmas Carol by funking and grooving up traditional songs.
After a year of organising the carols, the church has reached its final preparation stage, said Worship Pastor and music co-ordinator Ric Kelso.
The music team finalised the songs and the choir started its practice last week.
“We do about seven to eight songs and get the audience to sing the carols with us to make it more exciting for them,” said Pastor Kelso.
Hope Church assistant Narelle Ayres said the carols brought the community together.
“Hope has always played a huge part in it, because the main thing at night time is the actual carols themselves,” she said.
“It’s all about getting the whole community together.“
The choir practises in Hope Church every Wednesday at 7.30pm. Singers of every level are welcome.
A recent press release announced Myer as the naming right sponsor of this year’s carol.
The Myer Christmas Carols will take place on Sunday December 5 at Central Park in Varsity Lakes.
