Business mostly blooming at Varsity Lakes despite the recession.

Lake Café and Bar’s
business is blooming

While some Varsity Lakes businesses said they were finding new growth in the current economic climate, others said they were feeling the effects of the recession.
Lake Café and Bar manager Matthew Little said the recession had not had a negative impact on their business.

“Our business has actually been growing for the past one and a half years,” Mr Little said.

Mr Little said he was not worried about the increase in local food outlets in Varsity Lakes.
“More restaurants in the area means more customers,” he said.

Three Foxes Beauty owner Jenni Robb said the economic crisis had not prevented customers from using their services.

“People are still spending,” Mrs Robb said.

Varsity Lakes resident Maggie Kleist said the recession has not have any influence on her spending.

“I still eat out three to four times a week and visit [the] beauty salon,” Miss Kleist said.

However, other businesses and residents said they had been negatively affected by the economic crisis.
Varsity Lakes resident Tomo Ridley-Siegert said now spends less money now than he normally would.

“I don’t eat out as much as I did before,” Mr Ridley-Siegert said.
Blooms on Varsity owner Carol Hall said her business had slowed as a result of the current state of the economy.

“People are really watching their spending,” Ms Hall said.
