Be healthy with Tae Bo class

By Sun Hae Park, Bond University journalism student

BeMpowered’s fitness Tae Bo class is popular with Varsity residents.

Tae Bo, an exercise combining martial arts, boxing and dance, is effective for general health, muscle development and weight loss. The class started in August and usually around 20 people participate.

Tae Bo instructor Nerida Holladay lost 25 kilograms by doing the classes regularly.

"It does not focus on one area. It's the whole body work out,” she said.

"And people really get addicted. Fitness members in the Tae Bo class are having fun."

Varsity resident Tammy Utjesenovic has participated in classes since August.

“Tae Bo is good exercise for my health,” she said.

"It is convenient to take because I live near here. And I like the instructor, she is really energetic.”

The class is held in Gold Coast Medical Precinct on Tuesday and Hope Church on Saturday.

Adults cost $10, students cost $8 and the first class is free.

Anyone can join; visit www.bempoweredfitness.com.au for more information.
