A team of three Australian aerobics champions brought home the gold at last month’s European Championships of Sport Aerobics in Prague.
Ikin Dance owner and director Anthony Ikin, who is five time Australian and international champion, joined his team members Tim Crowe and Marty Warren in Prague to win the gold.
The trio beat out the previous world champs, the Czech Republic at home making the win “so much sweeter”, said Mr Crowe.
“The crowd didn’t support us at all,” Mr Crowe said.
“They supported us while we were on stage, but as soon it announced that we won, you could hear a pin drop.”
This was the first time the team competed together.
However, all three have previously won championships individually.
Mr Warren, who won the Junior World Championships in 2008, said it was great to pool their talents and compete together.
“Past championships I’ve won [have not] been in a group, it’s been as an individual,” said Mr Warren.
“I like that it’s a shared experience this time.”
Mr Ikin, Mr Warren, and Mr Crowe have already begun training for the World Championships in October.
The team’s biggest rival continues to be the Czech Republic, who is an incredibly hard team to beat in this sport, said Mr Ikin.
They practice twice weekly when Mr Ikin flies in from his home in Sydney.
Mr Crowe is the Federation of International Sports Aerobics and Fitness (FISAF) Australian Head Coach and the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) Sport Aerobics Level 1 coach.
Mr Warren is studying medicine at Bond University.
