Varsity Lakes travel agencies recommend travelling to the United States because of the falling US dollar.

Residents of Varsity Lakes can choose from two travel agencies, each catering for a different customer.

Student Flights is located at Bond University and caters mainly for students looking for travelling on a budget.

Varsity Lakes Travel, specialising in Mediterranean destinations including Greece, get more clients in the form of families.

Assistant manager at Student Flights Dean Fisher said the most popular destinations are South-east Asia, UK, USA and New Zealand.

“Being on campus with lots of study abroad students, we get a lot of groups coming in, from four to six,” he said.

“We actually charter boats ourselves - we block it out purely just for the students, because we know we’ll be able to fill them.”

Student Flights sell an average of 15-20 holidays per week.

Varsity Lakes Travel has a bigger customer base as they sell 40 holidays per week on average, said senior cruise manager Allan Harrison.

He said it is the right time to travel to the US now because of the change in currency strength.

“There’s very good travel bargains for destinations that are priced in the US dollar - anything to do with America or Hawaii, even Thailand and sea cruises,” he said.
